Description

A Monitor Barn, also called a raised center aisle or ‘RCA’ barn, is a traditional barn design that features a raised center section. This barn style offers a much higher roof line than a gable-style barn, improving natural light and ventilation or allowing for the creation of a large loft or even finished living quarters. The outer wings of the barn lend themselves naturally to horse stalls, with dimensions determined by the individual client. The upper floor, if built, can be used to store hay that is easily fed down into the stalls through the loft.

Each Monitor Barn is handcrafted by expert woodworkers and available unfinished or with your choice of stain or paint.  Asphalt roof shingles are standard or choose an optional metal roof.  Additional optional doors and windows are available to meet your specific requirements.

Standard features include pine board and batten siding, 2 sliding doors per end of center aisle, Silver Tech roof sheeting, felt and lifetime architectural shingle roof,  1 sliding door and  1 window per stall, 1 loft door and 1 window on loft gables, 1 window per stall in loft, wood floor, 1 service door and 1 window in tack room, full loft with powder coated ladder , 4 pitch roof over stalls and 6 pitch over loft, pine kickboard 1.2m high and # 1 T&G SYP on stall fronts with powder coated steel grills.

Materials at a Glance

  • Shadowclad siding is backed by a 50-year limited warranty, and won’t split or crack. It has a strong plywood veneer inner core, and a tough hardboard face that has the texture and appearance of natural, rough-sawn cedar. Its durability and strength ensure that maintenance costs are kept down.
  • Pine Board & Batten cladding is an alternate siding choice and is also very durable and attractive.
  • The ACQ pressure-treated plywood floor is 15mm thick. This type of plywood is typically used for outdoor structures such as barns and sheds that are exposed to the elements. The wood is treated to prevent termites, rot and fungal decay.

Quality-Made in Australia

Our Modular Barns are handcrafted in Australia using high quality materials. Each Barn is made to order!  The pressure-treated timber will keep termites and rot at bay. The siding is exterior-grade and stained with oil-based stain.

Finish Choices

If you’ve chosen Shadowclad siding for your Barn, you’ll need to choose a paint color; if you’ve chosen Pine Board & Batten siding, you’ll need to choose stain colors.

There are a variety of paint and stain colors to choose from. Two colors are included with your purchase, so you can choose one color for the siding and another for the trim, at no extra cost.

Roofing Choices

Asphalt shingles come standard with your purchase, and you can choose from a variety of shingle colors. The shingle roof has an aluminum drip edge to keep water from rotting the roof sheathing. If you don’t like asphalt shingles or you want to match your house, you may choose “custom” asphalt shingles or you may upgrade to either a metal roof.

The asphalt shingles and metal roofing both have a 30-year warranty.

Hardware

All hinges and locks are zinc plated and painted black. The entry door has a keyed lock handle. The shed door has a latch that can be latched in the open or closed position. The door latch can be locked in place with a Master Lock.
